Through the course you will be gain and practice the skills to the level required by industry. Swim Teachers provide vital life skills to their students allowing them to navigate water safely. The course is designed to meet the expectations of the industry by following the requirements of the guidelines for safe pool operations (GSPO’s) and the requirements set out in the training package.
Please Note: Southern Education is not a CRICOS registered provider and therefore, cannot provide training to international student visa holders. By enrolling in a course, you declare that you are not an overseas student, holding an international visa.
At completion of the course you will receive a nationally accredited SISSS00132 Swimming and Water Safety Teacher skill set statement of attainment.

This course is a blended model with online modules to complete before the practical assessment session.
There are no formal entry requirements or pre-requisites for this course, however learners are expected to be:
Students must also ensure they complete a Pre-Training Review (PTR) and/or Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment when enrolling.
The time it takes to complete the online modules will vary based on the learners previous experiences.
The face to face assessment session will be 1 day in length allowing additional time for necessary reassessment.
For this course, you are also required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of in-water training at your nominated BlueFit facility.
You will be assessed via completing the online assessment tasks, observation on the day of your face-to-face session and through your 20 hours of in-water training.
To bridge the gap between the Swimming and Water Safety Teacher course and employment, participants will need to complete a minimum of 20 hours of In-water training at their local BlueFit facility. During training participants will gain important job skills and knowledge that will enhance their chance of employment. You will shadow a qualified trainer and be required to log these sessions in a logbook that will be provided to you.
You will be required to submit your logbook to Southern Education before you can be issued with your Statement of Attainment for the course as it will form part of the assessment requirements.
